Wirral Bus Network

The Wirral bus network community engagement took place over 4 weeks between October and November 2025, to gather feedback from residents and members of the public. The community engagement formed part of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s broader franchising programme. The community engagement sought to collect feedback on bus services and identify potential future improvements ahead of the transition to franchised bus services in late 2026

I wanted to express my gratitude that you have involved us in this matter, as
members of the neighbourhood. I really do appreciate the opportunity to be able to advise and share our concerns.

  • On behalf of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, PLACED facilitated 26 events across the Wirral Council area, comprising 12 meetings with a range of community groups and 14 public drop-in events. Event locations included libraries, shopping centres, supermarkets, community centres, healthcare facilities, and transport hubs. Events were held at a range of locations and with various groups to ensure that we were able to achieve geographical coverage alongside other important considerations, including reaching those who are digitally excluded, those who may have English as a second language, or those who may have specific lived experiences relevant to public transport (e.g., disabled people, young people, and women).

  • In total, 1,469 people were engaged through meetings and drop-in sessions. This included sharing details of the franchising process, telling people about online engagement and how to share their views, and helping some to share their views directly. The feedback gathered will inform the future bus network. You can read more about the process of bus franchising here.
