PLACED’s first round of engagement for St George’s Gateway SPD took place for 6 weeks between June and August 2025 and included drop-in events, ‘walk-shops’, a ‘roaming’ pop-up, and an interactive online engagement platform where local people and stakeholders could share their views and complete a survey.

PLACED facilitated meaningful dialogues with the area’s communities and users, ensuring diverse voices were heard and integrated into the planning process. In 2026, PLACED will deliver a second phase of engagement. This will result in a final engagement report, which will inform the St George’s Gateway SPD.
“The integrated and complimentary nature of PLACED’s community outreach approach with our stakeholder co-design work has been invaluable.”
Commissioned by Liverpool City Council in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University and National Museums Liverpool, PLACED delivered public engagement for the emerging St George’s Gateway Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The SPD will guide regeneration in the area, supporting sustainable growth that benefits both the city’s economy and its communities. Over six weeks between June and August 2025, PLACED ran a varied programme of engagement, including in-person events, self-led activities, and an online platform, inviting residents and visitors to share what they value about the area and their aspirations for its future transformation.
