Summer School for Designers of the Future

Are you aged between 15-18 and interested in design, architecture and the towns and cities around you? Or do you know someone who has the talent to be a potential designer of the future?

PLACED is working in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Central Lancashire to deliver a fantastic FREE Summer School to help future talent develop their skills and knowledge. Participants don’t need any experience - we’re here to support and share ideas in a fun and creative environment.

These exciting Summer Schools are being held in Liverpool and Preston and will cover subjects ranging from urban design to architecture. This is an exciting opportunity for potential future architects, urban designers, planners and interior architects – or simply those with a passion for design and creativity – to develop their talent and interests.

The exciting Summer Schools will be taking place during the summer holidays on the following dates:

Liverpool: 23rd – 26th July (4 days)

Preston: 31st – 2nd August (3 days)

Workshops will be free to attend and will:

• Be creative, hands on design workshops for all abilities
• Be delivered by professionals from the sector , offering participants an opportunity to meet people working and studying in the sector and find out what it’s really like to work in the industry
• Help to inform career and study choices for those thinking of working in the design sector
• Offer an additional activity to include on UCAS forms
• Support development of skills including team work, presentation and design skills
• Be open to everyone from all backgrounds and academic abilities – enthusiasm is all that’s required!

The workshops will be held in Liverpool John Moores School of Art and Design, Liverpool, and University of Central Lancashire, Preston.

Interested? 

There are just 50 places available in each city. They will be offered based on the submission of a simple application form. Please note the closing date has been extended to accommodate exams and is now the 22nd June for Liverpool & 29th June for Preston.

Please note travel expenses and provision of a packed lunch are the responsibility of the participants. Workshops will run 10am – 3pm and participants need to commit to attending all days. Workshops are not residential. Participants will be expected to make their own way to and from the workshops each day.

The Summer Schools are generously being funded by John Moores University and the University of Central Lancashire.

The Summer School is being delivered as part of the national Love Architecture festival.
